Power to Live, Power to Die

Being a Christian is "all-fun 'n games" 'till we get tried in the fire. Or 'till we risk losing a "friend" or "losing face" over the Word. Or when we have to make a decision that doesn't coincide with what we previously desired. Then, oh no! Well, that's when love for God is supposed to eclipse selfishness. So if I have to die for this cause, then nobody can stop me. I'm going where God says go. Crying tears of love.

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." - Acts 1:8 KJV

The Gospel

I summarized the gospels so that one of my old classmates could hear it in my email on Facebook. Here is what I told him, with hopes it would whet his appetite to read:

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born about 2043 years ago to a virgin named Mary. When He was grown, He was without sin. After He was baptized and then fasted and prayed in the mountain for 40 days, He returned to civilization. Then, He laid hands on the sick by the power of the Holy Spirit and delivered people from demons, even raised them from the dead. When the people hated him for it and had him sentenced to torture, then death, He was tortured with cat-o-nine tails and beat with 39 lashes, the Roman soldiers stuck a crown of thorns on His head and then forced Him to carry His own cross all the way to Calvalry. There He was punished for the sins of everyone but Himself, but He was innocent. He suffered like a regular man. Then He died.

He descended into Hell, and took the keys from Hell and the grave. Then He rose from the grave and came back into His body 3 days later. The moment He died, there was a solar eclipse and an earthquake, the 4 inch veil that guarded the ark of the covenant was split in half, the temple of God was destroyed by the earthquake, and then graves opened and saints who had been dead and were known by the people rose up from the dead and walked among the people. Then when Jesus Christ rose from the dead He spent 40 days here on earth, teaching and fellowshipping with his disciples. He began calling them brothers. He had one more destination, Heaven. After the 40 days, He went to the mountain of Olivet and was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. The disciples stared into Heaven and there were two men in white apparel (angels) who stood beside them. They said, "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." Acts 1:11

I told him that Christ changed my life for good, and that I pray He does the same for him. Has Christ made that difference in Your life?

Why Be Mad at Eve?

People criticize Eve, but read that close: The tree was good for food, it was pleasant to the eyes, and it was desired to make one wise.--People think sin will "teach them somthing" and plus it seems like it will meet their needs "good for food". Good enough, in other words. I mean, after all, isn't learning the goal of life? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Eve forsook God with that mindset. Will You?

From the outside looking in, we all can see the three things that she saw were all lies to send her to her death. Not only her death, but the death of all of her children, from then on. But when you're in your situation, can you say the same? That's why we need the mind of Christ. To discern the truth from the lies. Maybe then sin won't look so attractive...
